Yes, and I think this is a totally reasonable approach for TPF. I've
been doing exactly the opposite in Conservancy: I'm doing much donation
processing and accounting by hand/on paper (not the math, of course, but
the record-keeping) precisely to force myself to not give into a "good
enough" non-FLOSS solution and thus keep me from "scratching the itch"
(as Larry Wall himself would say).
My goal is to get a FLOSS package working from ground-up for accounting.
If you all succeed in getting donor.com released, that's great. My
colleague Karen has offered to help you convince them. In the meantime,
I hope we can make progress in parallel on other directions.
